How Frequently Should You Post to Your Facebook Fan Page?

How frequently should you post to your Facebook account?

We noticed this past weekend when we started posting our freebies on Facebook and other merchandise as we made it that our reach drastically increased, our interaction with fans increased, and our page came alive.

But, we also noticed that while our fan count was steady rising, we lost a few fans along the way.

I made a commitment yesterday to our fans to post a new freebie everyday to our Facebook wall.  I got to thinking:  "when should I post it?".  So, I went to my handy Google page and stumbled upon this article.  I also found the answer to my original question in this article.  Buffer is a great tool that will help you with optimal times of day to post.  You simply log in and put your posts in a queue and it will automatically update your status through the day.  Best of all - they have a FREE plan!

I hope it helps you the way it has helped us.  Using Facebook as a brand is tricky and it is walking a very fine line.  You want to post enough to engage your fans, but not too much as to annoy them.

We'd love your input about how you feel when you see businesses who post multiple status updates within a short period of time.

  • Are you more or less likely to engage with them?
  • Are you annoyed or does it make you stop what you're doing for a few minutes and just focus on that brand?
  • Are you more likely to hit like or share?
  • How many times do you update your status a day?
  • What times do you usually find get you the most interaction?
Thank you for reading and participating!

Renewed Commitment to Blogging

Facebook has been a popular subject for our clients lately.  How do we get the most interaction and engage our users without having them run away?  How do we bring in new people?  How do we use Facebook to do sales?

I spend a lot of time researching trends with social media, search engine optimization, and marketing.  I then try to some of these techniques out on our own business so I can report back to you what I find.

I'm not a huge expert.  I didn't go to college for this, but I am interested and I love to help other people with what I learn.

I will use the blog as a way to try to keep you up to date on the latest SEO trends and how to use your Facebook page.

We will also house our freebies on the blog.  Please stop by and like our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter.

Check your Google Page Rank

The Google Page Rank is a scale of 0 to 10. Zero is not good and 10 is the best! Search engine optimization is an ever evolving field and we realized it's changed a lot from when we first started. We have spent a lot of time relearning the new trends and have found that while page rank is important, it's not the only deciding factor in how you show up in the searches. Basically, pages have ranks. Obtaining a link from a PR10 website to your website is a lot better than obtaining a link on a PR2 website. However, if you get a lot of links from PR3 websites, it will still help.

This tool helps you check your page rank. If it's low, I suggest starting with these steps to get it better:

1. Make sure your meta title has keywords and that you do not duplicate the same keyword.
2. Make sure your keywords match the keywords in your meta title.
3. Make sure your content on your page uses these keywords in your meta title and keywords section fluidly and do not "stuff" them in the content. The text should read easily and smoothly.
4. Use SEO Toolset Analyzer to check your meta title length, keywords length, and content length. Make adjustments if you see something is not right and then recheck it.
5. Use the Awstats in Cpanel to help find what popular keywords are that are bringing in traffic and make sure those are people you want to be getting.
6. Research competitors keywords. You can often see their keywords by right clicking their page and click "view source code". The meta information should be at the top.
7. Visit alexa.com and claim your site. Check your competitors sites and view the links that are linking into them. Check to see if you can obtain links at any of those websites.
8. Social Media, Social Media, Social Media. Anytime you comment on a blog, make sure you include your website address. Social bookmark your business on all the social networks you can. There are way more than just Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook! You can view a large list here.

If you're overwhelmed with this task or just don't have time, check out our search engine optimization packages!

One of the top things people want to know from us is how to make people find their website. We can't stress enough that it's not enough to just have an adorable website. You must also make sure you have keywords, meta titles, and back links. The other important thing to do is to make sure NONE of your links are "broken" - meaning that when you click them, you don't end up where you think you will. All links should work. This is a great website to spend some time on when you get a chance and looking at how you can make your SEO better on your own site. SEO is an ongoing thing and shouldn't be a "once and done" mentality. Keep working on your site, it will pay you back in the long run.

Search Engine Spider Imitator

Search engines send spiders to crawl your website. They do this in just a split second....in the time it takes from you to press search to the time it takes your results to show up on the screen. They are looking to find the most relevant websites for the search that was submitted. This is why you must include keywords and other information so they have that information to find. This is a cool link where you can see what the spiders see on your website while they are working! Let us know if we can help you with your SEO.

How to Make the Most of your Etsy Shop in 2012

Have you wondered what you need to do to make your Etsy shop shine? Have you wondered how to become an Etsy Powerseller? Everyone wants success. We all want to know what the tricks are that make those sellers really become successful. You can have the same exact product as another shop, but by appearances alone be more or less successful selling the same exact things.

These are three very important suggestions we have to make your Etsy Shop shine and bring in more sales:

1. Make sure your photos are professional. Whether you choose to put them all on a white background (using photoshop or some other photo editing software to remove the backgrounds), or whether you choose models, make sure your photos are all uniform. We are working on this concept ourselves with our 2012 makeover!

2. Spend the extra $10 to purchase a domain name for your Etsy AND Facebook page. We recommend when you purchase a domain name, that you try to purchase at least a couple that are similar. I.E. www.sissyfrissys.com, www.sissyfrissys.net, www.sissyfrissys.co . You don't want someone to buy the alternate domain of your business and start selling the exact same thing you are and have people "happen" upon their store. You lose business that way. It's great to get these extra domains ad redirect them to your Etsy Shop, Facebook, Blog, etc. Any "real estate" you have on the web, should be connected to a domain name so you can easily direct people to your different sites.

3. Use the Circle Feature on Etsy to your advantage. This is by far our favorite new feature of Etsy. They now tell you who favorites your shop and your items. We consider these to be "leads". They are basically telling you who visits your shop and what they like. Take the extra time to send them a "convo" and let them know you appreciate them taking time out of their busy day to visit your shop. Also, extend them custom options and let them know you are available to assist them. You will see that this sets you apart from the rest and that you will be able to convert some of those leads to sales!

For more suggestions, this article is nicely put together and will help you make the most of 2012! Enjoy....and be creative!
